Join Doula, Deb Young for this engaging 6 week course in yoga, birth skills & the low down on everything from safe yoga for pregnancy, yoga to keep fit, how to address pregnancy aches and pains through to strategies for a confident birth experience.
WEEK 1: Create Space + Breathe with Ease
In this lesson we focus on movements that encourage side flexion in the body. We’ll work in a flowing sequence to help give you more space + free up the muscles of respiration so you can breathe easy. You’ll walk away feeling taller, calmer and more spacious in the body and the mind.
WEEK 2: Connect with your Deep Core
Abdominal separation and lower back pain are common in pregnancy and our aim in this lesson is to help you connect with your deep core to find support and strength. Forget abdominal crunches - we’ll show you subtle yet powerful techniques to develop core strength in a safe and supported way no matter what your stage of pregnancy.
WEEK 3: Great Glutes + Stable Hips
The pelvis is usually under a lot of strain in pregnancy - as your body balances increased mobility alongside tight or achey hips as your body tries to compensate. In this sequence we’ll step it up a bit for mental strength and stamina, as well as a sequence to improve hip stability. At the end of the practice we’ll use pressure point techniques to release tension and help you ease into relaxation.
WEEK 4: Sacred Sound + Confident Communication
Your voice is the first sound that you baby recognises and a powerful tool to express your needs in pregnancy. In this sequence we’ll work with a sequence to tone the throat chakra for confident communication, release neck and shoulder tension, then practice the yoga of sound to stimulate the vagus nerve which has been shown to help the body connect with the relaxation response.
WEEK 5: Riding the Waves of Birth
The ocean wave is a common metaphor for labour. Water is fluid, soothing and helps to wash away tension. In this lesson we step it up with a flowing prenatal friendly practice to move, connect with breath and help you learn to ride the waves of pregnancy, birth and life.
WEEK 6: Yin + Tonic
The ultimate session for rest and relaxation. We’ll ease you into the practice with a soothing floor sequence to unravel tension, then ease into breathing techniques to calm the nervous system, followed by our secret massage tips and restorative postures for moms + finish with an optional foot treat.
