CREATE STUDIO VIBES AT HOME

We would like to extend a huge thanks to all of you that have been joining us from home. Something we have learnt during the lockdown experience is that flowing along with 40+ other yogis is still a VIBE when it's through a screen! Our sense of community is still strong, and that’s a result of your constant showing up and commitment to online classes. Also it’s been great to keep up with you all on the Younga Yoga Studio Online Facebook Community Group.

We love seeing how some of our yogis have created their own little practice nook!

Whether it's surrounded by candles & incense, OR laundry & lego… what really matters is the time you are taking for yourself and your nervous system to feel more anchored at this time. We've absolutely loved hearing feedback about how maintaining your yoga practice at home has helped MANY of you navigate some lockdown blues, and keep fit and aligned during these uncertain times via our livestream classes.

" Getting on the mat almost every day in the past 7 weeks has helped me nurture my mental wellbeing at a time when I really needed to."
- Ellie D.

" Thank you Younga Team for this challenge, it is such a great reminder to put our well-being front and centre during a difficult time."
- Sarah S.

TOP TIPS FOR CREATING A HOME YOGA SPACE

Creating a home yoga space may seem as simple as throwing down your mat on a free floor-space and getting down to business, but truthfully there's a few things to consider while creating your dedicated home yoga space.

☀️NATURAL LIGHT
 - If possible set up your practice space where there is plenty of natural light shining into your space to enhance the atmosphere of your experience.

📱SWITCH OFF - Mute any alerts on any other devices nearby that may cause distraction.

🙏🏼SET THE SCENE - It's the extra touches that can truely elevate the vibe of your home yoga practice. Lighting candles, burning some incense or playing a soft playlist in the background are some great elements. If you're looking for gorgeous locally made candles check out Nourish and Nest !

➡️2 MIN DECLUTTER - If you have a spare couple of minutes cleaning around the room of your dedicated yoga area making sure your practice space is clutter-free can be a big win.

PROPS FOR HOME YOGA

CUSHION or small bolster
BLANKET can double as warmth during Savasana & to kneel on during poses.
YOGA BLOCKS we advice having two, and you can get these from any sport store or pre-loved via our merch
YOGA STRAP if you don't have one, a long scarf or a belt do the trick.
EYE PILLOW for a next-level spa style experience, invest in a lavender and flaxseed eye pillow!
HIGH QUALITY MAT a non-grip yoga mat is a must have for a dedicated yogi and worth the investment. Check out our merch section for some great mats.

TIPS FOR PARENTS

Firstly it's important to note not to get down on yourself if your home yoga space looks a little chaotic. Lets face it we're operating at a different speed than usual during current times, especially throwing remote learning in the mix.

SCHEDULE & COMMUNICATE - One options is to set a dedicated time each day for your practice, our lesson bank is great for this. Alternatively sit down on a Sunday night to schedule your live streams, treating it as an appointment with yourself.

GET OUTSIDE - Have you tried outside yoga yet?! It can be a game changer if you're in need of that extra special alone time, if your home environment (or kids) are becoming a bit too chaotic. Our livestreams work via your phone too!

HEADPHONES - Other family members and the background noises (or the 1000 questions) they produce can be very distracting while doing your at home practice. A pair of headphones or AirPods are very useful for helping zoning out.

Keep up the amazing work guys. We hope you found some gems of insight that will assist your at home practice. We can’t wait to see you again, whether it’s on screen, or back in the studio very soon!

Much love,

YYS Crew.
