They are passionate about supporting a sustainable and regenerative food industry and inspiring people to create a more meaningful connection with their food. They do this through prioritising organic and local, connecting with their farmers and sharing recipes and wisdom. Getting there & away

Closest airport is Ballina / Byron. From there you can either book a shuttle bus, uber or hire a car for the weekend (what most people do is share with other retreat folks).
Gold Cost airport is also very accessible & offers more choice on flight times.
Flights generally cost between $50-200 each way depending on the carrier. Book ahead for biggest savings.
Alternatively Byron is a 9 hr drive if you are wanting to go with a friend and stay before/after the retreat for a few days.

about deb & russ

Deb & Russ are the founders of Wollongong’s Younga Yoga Studio.

Russ is an Accredited Exercise Physiologist with a passion for helping folks find better health & harmony through optimal nutrition, daily breathwork, biomechanics & the mind-body practices of yoga. He has 20+ years as a yoga practitioner, and has worked for the past 15 years as a casual lecturer/demonstrator at University of Wollongong (Anatomy, Physiology, Functional Anatomy). Russ is currently enrolled in a diploma of counselling. Russ’ classes are unique, experimental & give a nod to the latest book he is reading.

Deb has a Degree in Health & Physical Education, a keen interest in helping busy folks navigate the messiness of everyday life through acceptance & embracing change. As a mum, a business owner & someone who lost a parent to suicide at a young age - Deb believes strongly in the Japanese concept of Ikigai - living a fullfilling life by blending your personal strengths, passion & what the world needs - to be of service and find purpose in life. She loves both the physical and energetic practices of yoga and blending philosophy with moving meditation.

King Suite Bookings [Ensuite - One king size bed]
*If you are booking a king suite with second person (eg: a couple or friends sharing a bed), only 1 person needs to book online. When we receive your booking we’ll get in touch to see if you are coming alone - or contact your partner /friend to pay their deposit.

Twin Suite Bookings [Shared bathroom - twin share]
For twin share bookings - both people need to reserve a space & pay a deposit - even if you are coming together.
All twin share rooms can be made up as a twin singles or king bed - so if you are coming as a couple but the king suites are booked out - you can still select this option.

faqs

Is this retreat only for ‘serious yogis’? What if I am a beginner?
We modify all our retreats based on who is attending. However we recommend that you have had a consistent practice for at least 6 months. That means you take at least 1 class a week and you do that consistently. The idea of ‘beginner yogi’ is very individual - it’s less about what your physical body - can and can’t do - and more about your willingness to learn new things, to be open to the experience of a retreat and be excited about the program format. All sessions are optional and you are welcome to rest at any time.

I have been practising for a long time - will this be too easy for me?
We will run optional asana workshops that are designed to elevate your practice beyond the usual class format. Each session is run as a mini workshop and we are experts at challenging the folks that are looking for that - as well as nurturing the folks that want to take it a bit easier.

I want to attend - but nervous about attending alone…
Many retreat participants attend on their own - so please don’t worry. We’ll match you up with a like minded yogi (we usually do this closer to the time once everyone has enrolled). All rooms are twin share (except 2x King Suites which have a single occupancy option). We know that many folks fear attending retreats like this because of the ‘unknown twin share’ factor. There is a lot of space at this retreat space to hang out with others, but if you’re looking for a more solitary experience there are plenty of cozy spots to curl up with a book, the property is enormous and there are spaces to chill with privacy if that is your desire.

If the King Suites are booked out - can I book a Twin Share room for myself?
Sorry - due to limited capacity the only single occupancy rooms are King Suites.

I want to bring my partner - but they don’t want to do yoga…
Your partner can definitely attend (you can book a King Suite or Twin Share room with 2 spots and we’ll have the bed made up as a king). However we are unable to provide discounted rates based on participation. Partners who want to come - can still enjoy soaking up the retreat experience - making the most of our delicious meals by Burbury Whole Foods, take a break from the mundane - and possibly join in with our restorative afternoon yoga sessions. Alternatively they can go surfing, bushwalking or any number of other amazing things to do in and around the Byron area while you get your ‘yoga on’. We have been running retreats for 10+ years and have a lot of partners that continue to attend without doing yoga - just for the opportunity to retreat, meet amazing humans and have someone else take care of all the details.

Can I go into Byron / explore the area?
Between the morning and afternoon practice on Friday and Saturday there will be time to head to the beach or town if you prefer. Some folks choose to do this (and eat lunch offsite), however keep in mind - heading into the chaos of Byron township will interrupt your retreat experience. We recommend if you feel the need to head out - to go on a bushwalk or head to the beach instead. Discounts cannot be given for any missed meals.

What if I get Covid? / Can’t attend due to another emergency or missed flights etc?
Please purchase travel insurance so that you are covered in the case of any health, work or family emergency. As a small business and due to the significant upfront costs associated with running an event like this - we are unable to give refunds if you need to miss the event. You are welcome to pass your spot to a friend if you are unable to attend.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Once you’ve reserved your booking with $300 non-refundable deposit, we’ll be in touch to see if you’d like to organise a payment plan (with pre-agreed milestone payments), or pay in 2 lump sums. All payment plans must start within 7 days of reserving your space. If you have not organised a payment plan within 7 days you will lose your deposit and we will offer the room/space to someone else. Please carefully read our cancellation policy.

BOOKING CONFIRMATION + INSURANCE

  • A booking at Younga Yoga Studio PTD LTD Byron Bay Yoga Retreat April 2024 is confirmed when your deposit of $300 per person is paid.

  • It is highly recommended that guests obtain full travel insurance covering all medical expenses, and a trip cancellation policy in the unlikely event that the retreat is cancelled or in case of a personal emergency that will prevent you from attending. Younga Yoga Studio is unable to cover costs, give refunds or credits due to medical emergencies, cancellations of flights, or the inability to attend due to illness or personal emergency.

  • Guests must be at least 18 years of age to attend a Younga Yoga Studio Pty Ltd retreat. Guests aged 16-18 may be allowed to attend provided they are accompanied by a guardian 18+ years old and are approved by Younga Yoga Studio Pty Ltd prior to booking.

Payment Policy

  • For those on a payment plan - payment must be received in full at least 30 days prior to the retreat commencement.

  • For those paying in 1-2 lump sums at least 50% payment in full must be made by Dec 31st 2023 with the remainder due 30 days prior to the retreat start date.

  • If the retreat commencement date is less than 30 days away and the retreat still has vacancies - full payment is required to secure the booking.

  • If payment of the balance (of payment plan milestones) is not received by the agreed due date Younga Yoga Studio Pty Ltd reserves the right to cancel the reservation and retain your deposit.

  • The guest is responsible to pay for all extra services not included in the selected retreat package. This includes flights, transfers, travel insurance, massage treatments etc.

Cancellation Policy

It is the responsibility of the guest to read and understand our cancellation policy before making a reservation.
In the event of cancellation by the guest, regardless of the circumstances, the following refund terms apply.

  • Cancellations attract a $500 fee ($300 deposit + $200 fee). Please ensure you have time off approved & have checked personal commitments before booking.

  • Cancellation more than 90 days before retreat start date date, 100% refund (minus $500 cancellation fee) if your place is able to be filled.

  • Cancellation 31-89 days before retreat start date date, 50% refund (minus $500 cancellation fee) if your place is able to be filled.

  • Cancellation 30 days or less before retreat start date, 0% refund (in this case you can sell or transfer your place to someone).

  • We do not offer credit for a guest arriving late or leaving early. This includes unforeseen issues such as family-related illness, or COVID diagnosis.

Liability

  • Younga Yoga Studio Pty Ltd shall not be liable for any unusual and unforeseeable circumstances beyond our normal control, which the consequences of could not have been avoided even when exercising all due care. Such circumstances or events include, but are not limited to, pandemic outbreak, war or threat of war, riot, civil unrest, industrial disputes or strikes, accidents or failure to perform by third parties, including suppliers and subcontractors, unavoidable technical problems with the accommodation, transport or closure or congestion of airports, terrorist activity, natural disasters, industrial disasters, fire, theft, flooding and adverse weather conditions. In the event of any the above, refunds and compensation payments cannot be made.

  • Younga Yoga Studio Pty Ltd accepts no liability for loss, damage, injury or illnesses which may be received during the guest’s stay or travelling to and from Younga Yoga Studio Pty Ltd retreats.

  • Younga Yoga Studio Pty Ltd is not liable for any injuries or losses to guests, in the use of retreat facilities or participation in activities.

  • While all care is taken, Younga Yoga Studio Pty Ltd cannot accept any responsibility for loss or damage of personal possessions or valuables of guests.

  • All guests must take responsibility for their own medical and physical fitness and able to use retreat facilities (including stairs) and participate in activities.

Data Use and Protection

  • The guest agrees they may be photographed and/or filmed during their stay and/or activities in connection with the retreat, and also agrees that Younga Yoga may use such recordings for promotion and/or advertising purposes. As an indication of the types of uses of photographs / video, refer to Younga Yoga Studio instagram @youngayogastudio. Please reach out prior to the retreat start date if you have concerns so we can respect your wishes.

  • All medical & personal information collected prior the retreat is confidential and only shared with 3rd parties such as GP, hospital, next of kin in the event of an emergency.

  • Your name, email, phone number etc will never be shared with or sold to 3rd parties for the purposes of marketing or advertising.
